The Maradiva Villas Resort and Spa can be found on the western side of the island, where it sits on the waters of Tamarin Bay and sheltered from the rest of the world. This resort was originally a Taj hotel, but it has been transformed and now represents the island’s unique heritage. The inside has magnificent cathedral ceilings and shiny Madagascan Rosewood floors, and while there is an air of elegance and luxury, there is nothing too flashy or overdone with this resort.
There are sixty-five luxurious pool villas and they are all tucked away amongst the beauty of the island, so much so, that no one wandering around would know that they were there. Guests can swim in their private plunge pool or simply sit out on the veranda and relax. While the views from each villa is spectacular, the trees and exotic fragrant flowers near the garden villas offer the best views, as well as the best ambiance.
Guests can swim with the dolphin pod each morning in Tamarin Bay or they can take a thirty-minute walk to Flic en Flac, where all the action is on the island. The ayurvedic spa looks just like a temple and it is filled with Indian artifacts that are scattered about with the hibiscus and frangipani amongst the shimmering pools.
